The Non-Armed Country
I was about to write my first post in spanish and i decided it was worthy to write about my dearly country. But then i came to “hmmm no, if i want to talk about my country so it must better be written in english, so people feel like going, for tourists mainly, right?” So, i will do that. And here we go into a tour through my beloved COSTA RICA!! (…and NO, it is not Puerto Rico)
Costa Rica is right in the middle of a natural bridge that joins North and South America. A bridge so thin that feels like will get broken with a wave barely. We`ve got North and South borders with Nicaragua and Panama, respectively, and oceans on the East and West boarders. Our size may be compared to the size of Switzerland, being Costa Rica a bit bigger. We have a 51.100 km2 territory. And our coin is the Colon. However, we are more rich in a lot of senses than many other countries, and i can say that proudly! We are the so mentioned NON ARMED COUNTRY too, since 1948, year in which the army was abolished. Proudly.

We have tons of nature, most of it in protected areas, National Parks and Natural Reserves. (13.000 protected km2 to be accurate). On this protected areas we have from volcanoes to beaches all over the territory. Over more than 60 volcanoes, which only 6 are actually active. If you get to visit us you must definitely go see the Arenal Volcano with its hot springs and Rincon de la Vieja. Then you have the beaches….impossible to recommend one! They`re all beautiful and different. You may wanna go see the Atlantic area, which is fascinating and certainly different. Or you can go south, to the most peaceful and not crowded beaches, or go as well to the north, with also amazing beaches with a bit more of development around. It depends definitely on what you want for your vacation. Since there are thousands of places you can choose, you may want to get some advice before coming. But as my recommendations, i should say this ones: Manuel Antonio National Park, Corcovado and Bahia Drake, Tortuguero National Park with it`s natural canals, where walking isn`t necessary.

However, there are some tips about personal security you should know. You must be aware everytime about your things, specially on touristic places, the same as many places around the world. You could get before travelling an insurance in case you lose something or get robbed. Costa Rica is well known for it`s earthquake frequency, so you better be aware of this in case the land moves while you are visiting. The rainy season may coincide also with hurricanes in the Caribbean coast. So just be careful of the destinations and the season you choose.

This way i could go on and on and on about my country. Because there is such an amount of richness everywhere, of nature, of nice warm people. You won`t ever regret visiting us and surely you will take home one of the best of all memories. so VISIT COSTA RICA!!
