The AntiPub Crawl
Who will not agree with me when I say:
Travel can take us all to really awesome and unbelievable places, unforgettable experiences and unimagined tastes, sights or sounds…as much as it can take us also to particularly weird and fun bar/party sight-seeing around at nights!
Lots of people on the road and tons of good stories out there to be lived and told. So why not get all these together and adventure into some crazy off-the-record bar around? No matter where you are, what matters is the spirit, right?
Well, so we did! …oh Berlin, you really showed me so many faces of yours. Now I gotta share this story with everyone. In the end, I only want to inspire travelers into having something else besides the daytime usual sight-seeing spots (of course we all want to party and go out at night too): I want people to have some crazy shots and long walks into the funniest, weirdest, coolest and most unusual bars in town for one night around. Join the group!
1. YESTERDAY BAR: Flower Power!
Starting point, where unknown faces where gathering around, into a retro bar, totally 70-80-90′s style, from the music of course up to the entire decor. Fun table games! Just like the ones we played back then, trying to kick the tiniest ball around to earn points with just finger buttons. The best part? These tables were actually working letting you play while sitting & drinking at your own pace!
Within a pretty awesome music collection (lots of my favorite bands and songs), people started to move around, trying to recognize other faces attending the special night tour. Along budget cocktails (4-6€ each) and table games, the tour started warming up in the best way possible. Smart choice to begin with.
Switching from the fun colorful retro bar, we walked next to a gothic cathedral…weird feeling inside! Narrow, creepy, totally red and cemetery-like walls, this place could only belong to one music genre, named by themselves as an “horror rock bar”.
Well known to be Rammstein’s favorite bar, this was definitely a place like I’ve never seen before. Free shot of course to keep warming up!
3. DR. PONG
Just two words and a picture for this one: PING PONG. You read that right! Look ahead into this photo. As simple as that.
A room with nothing but a ping-pong table and cool house music, where people gets a beer in one hand and a ping-pong paddle on the other one, waiting to jump into the next round of gamers walking around the table, and hitting their turn right on the spot. Whoever missed the ball walks out of the game, and so on until the last 2 will play for that “round’s championship”. Fun and weird! (even more when it’s the 3rd bar and after several shots/drinks). Definitely a place for a peaceful and relaxing night out.
Curious Fact: this ping-pong idea was born during war time, where common people could not talk or pass information to each other in regular ways, so talking secretly around a “harmless” game was spotted as an efficient strategy back then.
4. DRUIDE
The absinthe experience of the night…not sure if having it almost last was a really good idea, but it was definitely tasty. For some unknown reason, I’ve happened to be attracted be destiny and absinthe in several places I’ve been (Prague, Barcelona, Hamburg), letting me have a quite wide range of absinthe styles, which has made my palate to get curious about it, not that I like it though. But well, I will never say no to trying the new stuff!
Small, green-lighted bar, simple and good prices. You will find as many kinds of this “green fairy” as you can imagine, however not recommended on trying them all at once for obvious reasons. Of course we got a free shot here as well!
5. CASIOPPEA
Last but not least, it was about time to get to the noisy spot. Big club, perfect to end the night after several cocktails and/or shots inside you and with the loudest dj-live music in two different ambiences. Fancy place with wardrobe service, simply making everyone’s night perfect and free of guilt…and memory!
Also with private terrace area, this bar is located in a particular abandoned-like spot in Berlin, well known for it’s graffiti and squatting movement: the Raw Temple.
So after a hectic night around town on our feet and with a great bunch of happy people, I can only say…please do!
Try this experience whenever in Berlin yourselves. Brought by Berlin City Tours experts, one unique tour on a budget and exquisite load of good times!

Unusual and fun bars.. The Last Cathedral is a little creepy, but I’d stop in for a drink. Haven’t had a European absinthe yet (from what I’m told, it’s different than the absinthe I had in Las Vegas – although I enjoyed that very much).
Sounds like we should meet up over an absinthe session! It was quite a tour, fun and diverse for sure. Thanks a lot on your comment Cathy!
