Hello Porto! First Impressions
Hello from the road!
I’m right now in Porto, Portugal, where we arrived safely yesterday in the morning into a sunny, warm and friendly little city.
Let me show in few images and words about what I was able to enjoy through the place yesterday. Even with my tastebuds for a start!
We arrived first into our accommodation place, very close to downtown. Easily reached from the airport (a friendly nice one by the way. Very well communicated to the city by all means of transportation, but specially by metro. Easy and on the budget!). We met our host, funny interesting artistic guy who kindly gave us a guide and tips to ge do around on a first recognition walk.
While walking around we found only friendly people, willing to help, to have a chat, to talk a bit around. The salesman, the waitress, the playing kids, the metro staff. It was lovely all the way. Definitely a good place so far and this is just getting started fortunately.
Enjoy your sight!
Interesting art nouveau style building downtown mixed within the local architecture, so traditional from Portugal.
And last but not least, time for some TASTE on the road:
Keep following for more about Porto while we get lost and discover intense experiences around.
Cheers!

Now I really need to go there. I love how they use the tiles on the buildings. It is also cool that there is a art deco building right in the middle of everything.
Hi Jeff, definitely the use of tiles is quite unique in this country. It makes all the architecture so different and rich!
Wow…gorgeous shots of the architecture and that cheese! Yum!! You’re going to have a fabulous time!
Oh boy…the cheese was..I can’t even describe. I think I might have had the best cheeses and wines of my life here in Porto and Northern Portugal. Really!
Been to Lisbon years ago but was not impressed. Having said that, we’ve visited Madrid 23 years ago for the first time and was disappointed, but recently visited it again and was rightly impressed. So, who knows how I’ll react to visiting any town or cities in Portugal in future? These photos look encouraging.
You should think on planning a trip there. I was very impressed of my thoughts and feelings while there, not a place I have thought of before but is now one of my top 5 places. It has something special, something warm, beautiful friendly people, good food, good ambience, great landscapes. Really, Portugal has come into a new category to me!
I’m waiting to read about your further impressions. :-)
New post published Ricardo! TBU experience, the conferences I told you about. Might be interested in reading about it and of course lot more to come about Porto itself ;) Here it is: http://mytravelthirst.com/i-remember-my-1st-tbu-experience/
