A Colored World Out There
The TravelThirst into some contest action! Sensing and showing the world this time through colors.
Thanks to Linda Wainwright (Island Momma) and Aaron Cruz (elatlboy) for nominating our site in order to participate in this great competition called “Capture the Colour“, held by TravelSupermarket. Giving away some great prizes for the sake of travel…let’s keep our fingers crossed and our senses on alert! In any case, this visual journey refreshing my memories is totally worth the try.
So, now time to leave words aside and focus only in sight. Scroll down and let your senses go live now, with a few photography from our travels. Enjoy!
BLUE
Great beach times while cruising around southern Caribbean islands, back in 2009. One of the best experiences in travel I’ve had so far, with amazingly diverse landscapes. This was taken in Bonaire, typical contrast between white and blue -respectively from salt production and clear ocean waters. Many of these small beach houses can be seen along the island, used back then for slavery (holding aprox. 20 slaves each in less than 8 squared meters), while they worked on the island’s development.
GREEN
Fresh and delightful artichokes at a local market, in the picturesque neighborhood of Testaccio, Rome. Have you been? Something not be missed! By yourself or with guidance, you can get to experience a whole new world in such a small place.
Tour Tip 100% recommended: Eating Italy- Food Rome Tours
YELLOW
Christmas night in Prague, wandering around the Vltava river into unknown corners away from the city rush. Just takes a few steps crossing the river and into Mala Strana neighborhood, where the path encounters the Kampa Museum on the riverside. You can watch the boats moving along so quiet and nice, almost like dancing…Prague lets this kind of magic happen. Right there you can visualize a small separate “water road” where boats head the other way, perfectly signposted with this large-scale lamp penguins. Definitely best appreciated at night!
WHITE
A unique view of the Pyrenees while flying from Vienna to Barcelona. Autumn 2010. No more words needed.
RED
A unique summer sunset recently in Venice, pretty honeymoon-like. It was my very first italian experience, special for plenty of reasons…but all together with this view: don’t tell me isn’t this quite perfect?
Let the competition continue!
And my nominees are: (Hope you haven’t been nominated yet. In such case, excuse the repetition. Thank you!)

Great choices for Capture the Colour, Mariana. I love the yellow penguins the most. Wish I had seen them in Prague. Good luck in the competition.
Thank you Cathy! Would be awesome to win, we’ll see! And you definitely gotta search for the penguins next time in Prague. :)
The blue is calling my name. Then again every beach does ;)
Great photos! Good luck.
Thank you on your comment Annette! You should try Bonaire sometime ;)
What beautiful and thoughtful shots for this contest! I absolutely LOVE the penguins…what a great choice. I just completed mine after having got back from Jordan and it made me really examine which photos I liked the most. Well done!
Thank you so much Charu! Glad to see so many great comments about this. Good luck to you too!
